Did any of you see the Big Star reuniuon shows from a couple of years ago.. you know, the lineup with the Posies guys? I didn't and I'm curious. I was kind of surprised to see they did it, as when I lived in New Orleans in the early to mid 90's, Alex Chilton was cooking grilled cheese sandwiches at the McCrory's (Newberrys) by Canal. Guess he got his head together enough to do it, eh?

Re: BStar
Sat, December 13, 2003 - 2:20 PMThey played the same week as Television and Mission of Burma that week and I made a financial decision. Um, it was a great show (Television), but I wish I had seen Big Star. A tear rolls. -

Sun, December 14, 2003 - 12:09 PMyeah they were in seattle a few years back, but I took a pass... seeing them in 1973 would be great, but now? hmmmmmmmmmm no chris bell... I generally steer clear of seeing acts whose heyday was more than 10 years ago, its almost always a disappointment... but i AM glad that alex isn't shilling cheese sandwiches anymore! between the box tops and big star he was a dishwasher in memphis... food service, the back up gig of artists everywhere! *laughs* -

Re: BStar
Fri, February 20, 2004 - 2:16 PMI saw them at the Fillmore in SF and it was great!
I was a little worried that Chilton's voice would be all gravelly like some of his solo shit, but it was perfect.
They did all the hits PLUS Chris Bell's "I am the Cosmos," "Wouldn't It Be Nice?" and a killer Todd Rundgren cover.
Some friends of mine went and saw Chilton in support of "Loose Shoes, Tight Pussy" several years ago and reported in was good too, but I didn't check him out.
