"when my baby's beside me" is excellent!

a few years back i was at a record store and "in the street" came up somehow in conversation.. I think the clerks were talking about That 70s Show and the cheap trick cover...

I pointed out it was originally Big Star, and both the early 20 somethings looked at me like i was nuts... they'd never heard of
Big Star

Now, MAYBE that should have made me feel old... but it really just made them seem silly.... I mean, I was an infant when Big Star was putting out records and I know who they are... and when I was 22 and working at a record store, I knew many obscure groups that were well before my time.

I think if you are clerking at a record store, well, you should at least have a working knowledge of music history... at least have heard of Big Star, if you haven't actually heard their music? They are one of the most influential bands of all time
